PSYCHOLOGICAL THERAPY

Psychological therapy provides a supportive and confidential space to better understand your thoughts, emotions, and experiences, and to develop practical strategies for managing challenges in everyday life.

Therapy can help children, adolescents, and adults navigate a wide range of emotional, behavioural, and life difficulties. Our approach is collaborative and tailored to each person’s individual needs, goals, and circumstances.

Some people seek therapy to work through specific concerns, while others come to better understand themselves and develop healthier ways of coping.

What to Expect in Therapy

Therapy sessions involve talking with a psychologist in a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental environment.

Early sessions usually focus on understanding:

  • Your current concerns

  • Factors contributing to current difficulties

Together, we develop a plan that focuses on the areas that are most important to you.

Therapy may include:

  • Learning practical coping strategies

  • Developing emotional regulation skills

  • Understanding patterns of thinking and behaviour

  • Problem-solving and decision-making

  • Building confidence and resilience

Therapy is adapted to suit the individual, and sessions progress at a pace that feels comfortable and manageable.

  • Behavioural strategies

  • Confidence building

  • Social skills development

Adult therapy may focus on:

  • Managing stress and overwhelm

  • Anxiety and mood difficulties

  • Work or study challenges

  • Life transitions

  • Relationship difficulties

  • Self-understanding and personal growth

Sessions are collaborative and tailored to individual goals and priorities.

Appointments and Referrals

You do not need a referral or Mental Health Care Plan to attend therapy. Clients are welcome to book appointments privately at any time.

However, if you obtain a Mental Health Care Plan from your GP, you may be eligible to receive a Medicare rebate for a limited number of sessions each calendar year.

You may also be able to access therapy through:

  • Private health insurance (extras cover)

  • Self-funded appointments

If you are unsure which option is best for you, we are happy to discuss this when you enquire.

Our Approach

We aim to provide therapy that is practical, supportive, and respectful of each individual’s experiences.

Therapy is not about being judged or told what to do — it is about gaining insight, developing useful strategies, and creating positive change at a pace that works for you.
